WHAT WE DO

STRENGTHEN BASIC HUMAN MOVEMENTS

By focusing on increasing your strength in all of the basic human movements (squat, overhead press, bench press, deadlift, and lighter pulling, we give you the ability to make your daily tasks lighter, to be "sturdier" and more resistant to injury/illness, and to perform better.  Whether you begin with your own bodyweight or with much more, we incrementally and safely increase your strength in these movements.

BODY RECOMPOSITION

By increasing your muscle mass and dialing in your nutrition, you will see improvements in your body fat percentage and appearance.  Whether you want to lose fat, "tone up", or bulk up, lifting heavy gives you the framework you need to look and feel better.

IMPROVE ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE

All athletic movements and skills are improved by building strength--jumping, running, agility, and all forms of athleticism come down to two things: genetics and force production.  While we can't change your genetics, we CAN greatly improve your ability to produce force, and that alone will contribute the most to your athletic endeavors.  Having strong bones, connective tissues, and muscles is the foundation to achieving athletic success--a weak and injured athlete is not a performing athlete!

BARBELL TRAINING FOR ALL AGES 12+

If you are alive, you can strength train!  Our coaches take pride in their knowledge of biomechanics and correctly applying it to your training.  We understand the physics behind correctly performing the movements, and we know how to help you perform them successfully and with slowly, carefully increased weight.  We also take pride in providing a serious but fun, supportive environment in which to train.  While we won't promise that each rep will be a walk in the park, we will promise to provide the best place to get stronger with the best people.  No large crowds, no competing for attention; only competent coaches and other people sharing your goal--to be STRONG!

"I have been an athlete most of my life, and first started lifting when I was 12 in the garage with my dad.  I have made probably every training and nutrition mistake in my decades of training, but I have always been drawn to no-nonsense and simple methods.  After trying nearly every training method, I found the most success using the Starting Strength method for myself and my clients.  I began training others as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  I am halfway to being able to call myself a Starting Strength Coach, having recently passed the rigorous platform evaluation!  Why is this relevant?  Because it is the only certification for which you must prove that you can quickly, accurately, and efficiently coach a lifter at ANY skill level in the squat, deadlift, overhead press, power clean, and bench press.  The reward of helping people at all skill levels become stronger and more able is what keeps me going!  I also compete in powerlifting and highland games, and coach powerlfiting."
